I am proud of my 16 year old son, called me from the side of the road Wendsday night. He does drive and he is a good driver.Called me that the car,a 2005 Dodge Stratus was overheating and shut it off going onto the side of the road.My husband and I taught him about the gauges and when to shut it off.Had it towed to my mechanic and  found a leaking waterpump the next day.Replaced the timing belt at the same time and it was due for a change. My mechanic was proud of him too, saved lots of money and saw he was well taught what to do.

that's great a lot of kids would just kept trying to drive it.
I think we owe it our children when we teach them to drive to teach me about the mechanics of the car too.

That is great.  It is important to teach our drivers these things!

That is great to hear. Last year my oldest son's car caught on fire when his stearimg pump went so both Kyle and Chad jumped out opened the hood and peed on it to put out the fire, it's gross but smart thinking on their part because it put the fire out and saved the car.

Sorry about the car having problems, but that is awesome that your son knew what to do.
