Arrowhead teens injured in crash By Steve Garrison Posted: Oct. 30, 2013 Rumors about a car accident that left three Arrowhead High School students injured seem to be partly true, at least according to the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department. Spokeswoman Jennifer Wallschlaeger said deputies were dispatched at about 2:20 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 20, to a crash on I-94 near Highway 67, Oconomowoc. Three teenagers were injured in the crash, Wallschlaeger said, but it was not clear based on the accident report how severe their injuries were. She said the driver of a sport-utility vehicle was a 16-year-old boy, and there were eight passengers, all between ages 15 and 16. The SUV was experiencing mechanical issues that limited its speed when it was struck from behind by a truck, Wallshlaeger said. The truck driver, a 25-year-old man, was not injured, she said. There was evidence that the 16-year-old driver had alcohol in his system, Wallschlaeger said, but no evidence that the truck driver had been drinking. The Lake Country Reporter first heard of the incident from Arrowhead parent Andrew Johnson, who said that rumors were circulating that the teenagers were Arrowhead students leaving a house party where alcohol was available. "The problem I have with it is, who was furnishing the alcohol? Why were there this many kids in the car?" Johnson said. Arrowhead Superintendent Craig Jefson said that he was informed of the incident on Friday. "If they are involved in an extracurricular activity and they signed the code of conduct, then we would enforce any violation for activities that they were involved in," Jefson said. "But we do that based on a police report." He said that Activities Director Kevin Flegner is investigating the matter. The Lake Country Reporter has put in a request for both the accident report and the incident report. Both documents are expected to be available sometime next week
