My DD 17 has spent all day in her pjs when we don't have anywhere to go. I get so pissed off at her and I ground her and I take away her phone and etc. But she just doesn't budge and is in her pjs the whole day unless she had somewhere to go. I talked to my DD about this and she said she likes being in her pjs all day because she is fat and disgusting and she doesnt like wearing clothes. I have told dd she is not fat but she doesn't seem to believe it. I don't know what to do now?

How about you let her wear pj's. Who cares. If she isn't going anywhere let her be comfy. Grounding her & taking her phone sounds extreme.

Crap. I stay in my pjs all day sometimes too.

Is there anyone she can talk to about her self esteem issues?

Very extreme, IMO.

Now the self esteem is a problem. She sounds depressed to me. Maybe have a mother/daughter day. Give her a reason to get dressed. Make it positive.

I wear my pj's all day if I have no wear to go. Whats wrong with being comfy in your own home?

I would be more cooncerned about the low self esteem and body image issues.

Nope, not in my house. Not allowed. They don't try it. Even my adult children at home are not that lazy. Get up, get a shower and be presentable.

Way is it being lazy if you take a day or so to relax in your PJs?

I do agree that the self esteem is suffering from something.

Relaxing is awesome. In PJ's no. 2 different things. I relax a lot. In clothes.

To each her own. I don't see the problem of the PJs personally.

Truthfully mine wear a tee shirt so not presentable to wear just that. They do not wear traditional pj's. No matter change clothes. Put on sweats at least.

I'm fine with pj's if they aren't going anywhere. If she wants to be comfy~ let her. I have to be honest I have spent my winter break from work in yoga pants and running pants, yes not pajamas but close enough. If I have to go somewhere I throw on a pair of jeans.

I agree with those who said to deal with the self esteem issues though.
