This does not seem legitimate and I did forward it to what I believe is the real Yahoo Support team.  The return address on the scam is "inffo" @ yahoo.

Yahoo replied back to me very quickly. They said "it is very easy to alter the to and from lines in an email"  and basically said they can not do anything about it.

Yes.
What you've described is 'spoofing' --- it's very simple to change the to and from to be almost anything you want.

This is the way that alot of accounts are compromised.

NO company will ever ask you for your email or password or update your account via an email for this reason.

So don't access accounts via email links, or give out vital information via email.

Always visit the actual website in question to be safe and to safeguard your account information --- if there were actual information needed they would most likely contact you via regular standard mail or phone --- or via the official website itself.

The websites are protected ....email simply is not.
