Switching my birth place...

I saw my old OB when I was 10w 5d pregnant, then at 14w 5d I switched care providers to a CNM who delivers at a free-standing birth center.  And now, around 26 weeks, it looks like I'm switching things up again!

Since attending a homebirth as a doula a couple weeks ago, I've really started to question why I chose the birth center in the first place.  I contacted the CNM who attended the homebirth and she's agreed to meet with my husband and me next Monday!  She said she normally wouldn't take another client for July (her sons' baseball season, LOL) but since she knows me, she'd love to.  DH and I talked with my current midwife about it, and she was soooo supportive!  She's spent most of her career as a homebirth midwife but now only does birth center births (she said she's getting too old to drive to strange places in the dark, ha).

So anyway, my birth place is undecided as of right now, but I've already started going crazy getting my house ready for birthing in.  I've been on mad deep-cleaning sprees and I've started painting the walls because I decided the colors were too dark; I wanna give birth with happy-colored walls, ha.  And I rearranged our bedroom to make room for a tub; I've started gathering up old towels and sheets... so unless DH really doesn't clique with this homebirth midwife, it looks like we'll be staying home for the birth :)  Even if not, I know the birth center here is an awesome place to have a baby (it really is just a house); I'm just not wild about strapping baby in a car seat at 4-6 hours old - I wanna hold her!!!

So anyway, I haven't been around much because of all my nesting projects, but I just wanted to share our excitement :)

Hehe congrats!! I'd love to birth at home but since we live so far from the hospital the hubs nixed that idea and honestly I'm not sure I would be completely comfortable with it either just because of the distance to a hospital.  I wish I could get into nesting mode but since we're getting ready to move in the next month I'm just too overwhelmed to do anything here and we don't know where we're moving to so I can't even plan things for the new house.  Anyway, I hope you get the homebirth that you want.  I'm sure you'll do great!

Yeah! That's so exciting! I, too, feel like I'm nesting like crazy. I am normally a pretty disorganized person (and I'm okay with it) but for some reason I want everything organized for when I give birth in my home. I just get these crazy urges to declutter every little space I can. I've come to learn that I like it much better this way. Now, if only my husband could get on bored and quit leaving his paper trails all over the house!
