Hypnobirthing? -- cross posted

Who here had a natural, home birth without hypnobirthing?

My mom and I were talking about it and frankly, it creeps me out.  In my POV, the pain of birth is necessary and I'm actually looking forward to going through the whole process.
I know what I'm saying, and I WILL be saying it during my labor -- mom pretty much thinks I don't know what I'm getting into.  She admits openly that she had to have hospital intervention with me (I was a preemie, c-section) and that she has no idea what 'real birth' is like, but she knew also that what she went through was excruciatingly painful.  She just wants me to consider alternatives, but frankly, I don't think hypnobirthing is natural -- as birth was intended.  It is without medications, yes, but if that isn't how the brain works, and it's introduced, then it isn't natural.

Frankly, I told her that if I can do this, I can do anything.  I NEED to prove to myself, to the Universe that this is what I'm capable of and that I'm strong enough to handle it.

Seem harsh?  Probably.  If you hypnobirthed, that's great, but it's not for me.  I just want to see if anyone agrees with me on this.
