Sorry if this is off tropic, but I have a question for your nursing mommas:
I'm returning to work here shortly and I have been offered a night shift at a local store full-time. $7.75 an hour for 10pm-7am. That will give me enough money for groceries & gas (hubby's check covers the bills) and quite a bit to put back into savings and/or home repair or furniture (about $600 or more a month).
My 9mth old daughter co-sleeps and still nurses at night. She will not take a bottle but I can try again. My mom will stay at our house during the night, but I'm worried how it will affect my daughter's sleep schedule. I guess she'll adjust and learn to go to sleep without nursing, but I just think those 1st couple of weeks will be really hard on her. I'm pretty sure they'll let me pump at work so my milk supply can stay up.
Has anyone done this before or does anyone have advice for me? I think I'm going to take the job because it is too good to pass up with this economy...

I have never had to do that but I feel for you...tough decision! Breaks my heart to think of it.
Yes, it will be hard on the baby...may I suggest some rescue remedy? Maybe someone else may have more insight.
)))HUGS((((
Never mind... My mom’s husband essentially won’t let her and I’ve
turned the job down. She is my only available childcare.
Hubby doesn’t like the idea anyway for various reasons. Whatever. I MAY be able to get a part-time 2nd shift job. I may just have to get 2 part time jobs.
The search continues.
Thanks for the replies.

Tell me if it is not of my business but anything you could do from home? Do you have any interests or passion you could turn into a profitable business??? Just thinking...

Well my passions that I would want to pursue are related to childbirth, pregnancy, and things like that. I dream of becoming a doula, but that is not in the cards right now as we only have 1 car and the place I need to go to to become certified is about 2 hours away :( Later on down the road I plan on pursuing that. <3
But as for someting I can do at home... I'm not very crafty, lmao, so that's not in the cards. A friend of mine who works for HSN told me about a legit company that I can try and I'll handle service calls. I'm going to try to see if I can do that if it seems like something I'd be able to do. Other than that... Gonna try to find another job! Wish me luck on the job search!!

No, It's one of the things I would like to deicate my life to but my other passions are silly things like books, martial arts (which I've been out of for years now), coloring hair, piercings, and tattoos. Not much opportunities to do those things without apprenticeships or additional schooling. I'm trying to get a job at a couple of books stores in town though.

I'd suggest reducing down the bills you pay - if you can. Turn off the Tv/Cable. Don't go out to eat, don't shop for clothes, etc. Live simple. I'm sure your eligible to get on WIC (Women, Infant and Children) program which is a govtment. program to help provide nutricious items for your pantry. This will help offset some of your grocery costs - usually 40.00 per child. Since you have 2 children, one being three and the other still nursing, you will recieve a decent amount of items. Contact your local WIC office - check your yellow pages.
Your most important job is being mother - even if there is great financial strain. Once the children are old enough to adequetely adjust to a new enviroment, I'd suggest you sit tight and enjoy this season of your life with your children and know that there may be an opportunity to make more money later.
Let us know what you choose to do.

Thank you for your reply. We already live very simply (just by habit & choice, not bc of finances). We do not have cable... Only internet and phone as we use those a lot and are necessary to us. We rarely eat out, only buy clothes when necessary. We are already on WIC (I love Wic!). I do't need to bring in a lot of money.. A part time job should suffice, I'm just wanting to go ahead and get a full time (at least temporarily) so we can set some extra money down in savings for repairs down the road should our AC malfunction or something like that. I'm very lucky that my children's grandmother will be the child care so there will be no adjustments as far as getting used to soemone else :) And she has already said she'd bring my little miss to work for me to nurse on breaks!
I turned down the job & I'm still searching for a job, but trying to find a schedule that works out better for me & my family (no night shifts). :)
