Alan Colmes Shows How Abortion Destroys Respect for Life

by Kristan Hawkins | Washington, DC | LifeNews.com

Earlier this week, Alan Colmes, former show host for Fox News, was chastised for making completely inappropriate and degrading remarks about presidential candidate Rick Santorum and his wife after mourning the loss of their son, Gabriel. What did he say?

“Once they [voters] get a hold of the crazy things he’s said and done like taking his two-hour old baby who died right after childbirth home and played with it for a couple of hours so his other children would know that the child was real.”

Unbelievable. And what is even more telling is what happened after Colmes was made these hideous remarks. Rich Lowry of the National Review who was also apart the Fox segment, immediately rebuked Colmes’ remarks and told him how low he had gone. Instead of backing down and apologizing for his remarks, Colmes kept arguing his point and maintained that he was not mocking the death of baby Gabriel.

Of course I’m angry with Colmes for his completely over-the-line comment, and of course I’m happy that major news outlets have taken to chastising his insensitivity.

But the real heart of the matter is the fact that this was said in the first place, broadcast over major media outlets, and came from a man who, at some point, thought that professing these snide remarks about a man’s dead son would be just another political recap.

What’s the lesson here?

The hearts and minds of Americans need to be changed. When tannings, piercings, and tattoos are more controversial than the murder of millions of lives, something is wrong.

Alan Colmes made his comment because he – we – lives in a society that has allowed this to be acceptable, to some degree.

Why did the Fox News host let Colmes’ remarks go? Why didn’t he stop the conversation right there?

The sad fact is that it was just another day in the office for him. Our political rhetoric has gone from patriotic and supportive to brash and degrading. Campaigns have degenerated from empowering speeches and confident players to smear tactics and off-color remarks. Sadly, this fits in nicely with a nation who, for almost 40 years, has accepted the legalization of the murder of children.

It’s no wonder that Colmes was allowed to get as far as he did, and why he is still a Fox News Contributor. Entire generations of our siblings, peers, and friends have been wiped out under our own hands. Colmes comment is reflective of the society we live in and reflects the dire need for our generation to engage – now more than ever – in the fight to protect the lives of the pre-born.

Oh and by the way, Fox News – Fire Alan Colmes.
