I have only made three diapers so far and the first one was a 2 layers of Tshirt with a fleece soaker in the midde ( i am not sure if its a real soaker but what i assume is a soaker ... two layers of fleece about as wide as the diaper and mostly the legnth of the diaper ) I just felt like this diaper wouldnt really hold any pee !! maybe its just me i am very new to this !! And then diaper number 2 was possibly a bit over thick .... two layers of fleece with a fleece soaker in the middle , i thought this might be to hot on the baby... and then diaper number three was cotton on the outside with fleece layer on the inside and a fleece soaker in between the two ....
so i guess my questions are what are your takes on those ? and also what do you find works best ? what fabrics are best to be against the babies bum ? do you need a soaker when you have a layer of fleece on the inside ?? and any other advise !!! i am completely new to CD !!!
Hun you got it backwards! Fleece is polyester and has NO absorbancy at all -- you want the cotton for the absorbant 'soaker' layers and fleece as the inner / outer layers.
The fleece is either used as a) thin fleece as an inner layer to wick moisture away from baby skin or b) regular thicker fleece as an outer 'waterproof' layer
When you hear "fleece soaker" what it is is a type of pull-on diaper cover made from fleece. The term soaker is also sometimes used to describe the inner absorbant layers of diapers -- so, yeah, people get those 2 mixed up a lot!
Don't feel bad -- we all have to start somewhere! Just try again with the fleece on the outside and a few layers of cotton or microfiber on the inside to absorb. Good luck!

For your inner layer you can use : pretty much any soft cotton such as t-shirt or flannel, thin fleece, bamboo, hemp. The only on ei know of that you DO NOT want on the inside touching baby is microfiber. (like the auto drying towels people use to stuff pockets or sew in the middle of diapers)
Using a fleece outer makes it pretty much like an All-In-One since the fleece is fairly waterproof.
My basic Fleec-In-One diapers are like this -- fleece outer, microfiber layers to absorb, flannel inner layer next to skin.

Okay wait one more question ..... could you just do one layer of thick fleece with a COTTON soaker and that on the babies bum ? or do a layer of diaper flannel next to baby bum ??? sorry i am such a newbie !!! thank you so much !!
