Hi Gals,
My sister is due with baby number 1 in May and has told me she needs to Cloth Diaper (which I am super happy about). I offered in my excitement to help sew her a stash (she doesn't really sew or have any time). That said, if she is planning on using a velcro cover (like Thirsties) should I plan on making contours? or should I still do some fitteds.
Other than being way cute, I'm not sure what the advantage of fitteds are if you are using a velcro or snappable cover.
Please give me your insight! :-)
i made contours for my store cause i thought i had a good idea but now i dont think they would work lol i think you do NEED a cover so yeah :( imma make one for my son right now and see how it does on the poo i would be scared of it ruing out or something, my son is almost 2 so yeah now im nt sure what im doing
this are the ones i made

Thanks ladies,
I did have that thought about #2's.... She'll probably end up with more contours than anything cuz I want to make fitteds for my peanut! lol :-) (I'm still using prefolds....)
One of my sons is super sensitive and one is not but they are twins...
The sensitive one can't use PUL or leg elastic too often...I just bought some Lastin thought so I can have elastic in the legs for him without irritating his thighs and back. I love contours and daddy flats but the poopy just comes right out because I use longies if they aren't in a fleece pocket or AI2. Lucky my boys only poop once a day after they eat usually. Newborns poopy EVERY chance they get LOL and its so mushy I would def use elastic in the back and on the legs for nb & small diapers!

Agreed! I use "Thirsties" covers (which are awsome!) I havn't had any leaks and I bought them before I even considered making my own. Because my sister isn't going to be helping to make hers, I already told her that she needed to buy those covers (that way I can use mine as templates for making her contours and fitteds.)
Using the prefolds I havn't had anything leak out of the covers except when I didn't tuck the prefold in all the way. That said, I scrub at least one cover a day because the poop does not stay on the prefold but at least it doesn't come out of the cover!
I can see how not having to scrub the covers would be nice :-)
I'm with the fitted clan, at least for the newborn babes. I still like the fitteds, and baby is 1 year old now! I've never tried contours. To me, I'll just stick with prefolds if I won't be adding elastic.
You can help the drying time of fitteds by sewing the soaker onto the back. Flap away!
