So we just found out we are expecting again! Very exciting! But, like dumb dumbs we did not hold on to dd's old diapers! So in order to save some money I am going to try to sew up as many as I can for the new little one. I was hoping for tips for a beginning diaper sewer. I sew professionally, and am a decent seamstress. I just have never ventured down the diaper-making trail. I have repaired more than a few fuzzibunz, but that's about it. What diapers would you recommend I start off with for a newborn? I always used fitteds & wraps with dd when she was a newborn. It seems like converting prefolds into fitteds isn't too hard, but are the wraps very difficult? Thanks so much for any advice you have for me- the newbie diaper-maker!!
When I first started I drafted my own patterns, which some of them I still use, because they were very basic, but there was a lot of waste in the process. So I bought the Darling Diapers Unlimited Patterns. It was like $11 I think but worth every penny. It not only was every pattern size but a "how to" of everything diaper. Which was awesome for me since I am a super visual person. what you purchase is like a 89 page file. You dont have to print every single page. I opted to and put it all in a binder (part of that whole visual thing. lol) I have referenced it so many times and LOVE it. HTH
I also just bought the darling diaper down load and was super impressed by the amount of information! I also bought the La Di Da. I plan to use the darling diaper pattern once I get better on my serger because those can be serged or turned and topstitched and I think the La Di Da is only turned and and top stitched :-)
