I'm sorry for the terrible pics, MrsnMother. I'll try again. I think the diaper isadorable and I like the idea.  The patten is a great fit!  I haven't given it a good test run yet because my little booger peed in it while trying it on.  It's in the dryer now.  I think this is a good option for mamas on a budget who want the look of a cute diaper.  I'd like to see it in 2 layers of fleece instead of flannel... as an Ai2.  So...mamas on a budget won't need to buy a cover to go with it.

Check it out, ya'll!

What a cute diaper. :)

So why couldn't you just use more absorbent layers in the soaker pad instead of a cover?

I'm assuming this is a tester for the budget diapers. Fleece would be a lot more expensive than flannel, so I can understand why you'd use two layers of flannel. I do. Then I just have a few various soaker pads. I just recently got a few covers and rarely use them.

The shell of that diaper is two layers cotton fabric, and two layers of cotton flannel. On the all flannel diapers the shell of the diaper if 4 layers of flannel and they come with snap in Indian prefold. Yes the diapers are meant to be affordable without breaking me in the process. My main goal is to make a functioning diaper that is not too costly to make so that I can sell them cheap to help moms that can't really afford them, flannel and cotton fabric is my best option. I will however make diapers that are fleece/PUL if I run across a good deal on fabric.

When you take into account the 4 cuts of fabric of cotton/flannel vs the 2 of fleece, then I think that you have the same cost involved.  I get most of my fleece at 1/2 off at hancocks or joann's.  You can always use a 40% off coupon on 1 cut.  And since the moms are on a budget...just get a solid!  I could get solids of anti-pill at $3.99!  What do you think?  On sale, I was getting flannel at $1.99...then it shrinks...so you don't have as much fabric once you think about that.  Finn is wearing the diaper now!  I'll PM you!
