idk what he did to it but it is all wacked out....it skips stitches an inch at a time and wont pickup the bottom thread at all so the top stitch just pulls right out.
its a singer does anyone have any advise???
well i did change the needle and rethreaded the top portion but i didnt redo the bobbin thread so i will try that.
he had every single button switched to a different setting (half of which i dont really know what they do) so i dont know.....the last time i threw off my timing it cost 60 bucks to get it fixed! i was trying to sew 8 layers of flannel and the needled went kind sideways and from that point on everytime the needle went down it hit some other part of the bobin and got stuck so i knew i had broke it. this time it doesnt do that (the needle goes up and down no problem) so i was hoping its a setting that needs adjusting :(
Quoting hooraywesay:
Try completely rethreading and changing your needle. If its still not working, your timing may be off and your machine will have to be serviced
no i have the same thing happen to me. my boy is 2 and did the same thing and i has the SAME thing happen to me and i also have a singer. all i had to do is set all the thread settings to the tightest setting so it would sew again and then slowly loosen it back up to where i needed it. its just because your top thread is way to loose to catch the bobin thread. if that doesnt work let me know and ill tell you other things that will work my sone does it to me all the tome lol...
Remove everything from the shuttle race, clean thoroughly, add a drop of oil where needed, and replace. If you can see the shuttle race while sewing, watch what goes on as you (slowly) lower/raise the needle by hand. That'll give you a better idea of what might be going on.
My toddler also broke my singer by pulling it off of the counter on to the floor! I had to bring it to Joann's (where I bought it) and it had to be sent away to be fixed. Luckily it was still under warranty! Sorry Mama:-( You may need to have it repaired.
Toddlers are hard on machines arn't they, lol. My grandchild took my little babylock and removed the tesion disk. I don't know if it is broke, but one of these days I will try to see if it still works. I am sorry you have to go thru this.
