I would think you would not want to use fabric glue. Any type I've used wasn't meant to be sewn through - whether by hand or machine, you just plain couldn't do it. Elmer's glue, on the other hand, can be very helpful for keeping your pattern pieces from shifting around.
If you have binder clips or hair pins (the old fashioned bobby pins) they work great for holding the layers together while sewing also and no pin holes.
