My sone is 5 months old and I am ready to be done with nursing.  If I am around he refuses to take the bottle. Does anyone have any suggesstions. He doesnt drink much at all during the day while I am at work and I work from 9 to 5 and he usally only eats 4 to 6 oz in that time frame with some baby food at lunch. Any suggestions?

Well just to work at getting him to take a bottle. Most breastfed babies want nothing to do with a bottle, til around ten months or so. Good luck, weaning is hard. My first was 21 months when she weaned.

That is amazing that he eats so little during the day. Try adding a little formula into his food during the feeding. I would just slowly take away one nighttime feeding for three days (say the 6pm one), then the 9pm one can be done by your hubby. The nighttime one is usually last to give up.

I have heard that it is easier for babys that are breastfeed to wean to a cup.  It will take some practice and patience but atleast you won't need to wean him from the bottle later on.  I have also read to wear bulky sweaters and shirts babies can smell the milk.

Always have someone other than yourself give his the bottle the best thing is to introduce a bottle of breast milk when they are 4-6weeks....if not its gonna be tuff...try having anyone but yourself give the bottle u may even need to leave the room or house they can smell u 5ofeet away...also a cup or sippie cup. you may even wanna pump n feed if possible the bottle n formula all at once is a big adjustment... my son if 5months old today he's been talking a bottle of breast milk since 4weeks old so he's doing pretty well with both but i also cant imagine trying to ween yet he is so attached...good luck you will get there
