Can anyone show me some 2000 year old people?  Did Jesus not say that there would be some STANDING THERE (2000 years ago) that would not taste of death til the Kingdom came with power?

I very much believe that if Jesus existed, that he was getting ready for a near apocalypse.  The sacrifices that were to be made to follow him were not life lessons, but necessary actions to prepare for an immediate apocalypse.  It is my belief that Jesus believed that the Kingdom of Heaven was right around the corner and he was there to spread the word.  I'm not sure when Jesus began preaching less about the Word and more that he was the way and not just the Word itself, kwim?  Jesus wasn't just spreading what he believed to be God's word.  He preached that belief in him as a person, not just as an idea, was the key to salvation.  He didn't simply represent the Truth, he was the Truth.  I believe that one cannot enter heaven just on the belief that Jesus' life was a righteous one, but that you need to believe that he exists, he died and rose up into heaven.  That he must be the one to forgive your sins.

LOL, I feel like most of my post should be a new thread.  I just hope that my point is clear enough to be understood.

It's clear to me, and I agree with you.  Hmmm, you just gave me an idea for another thread...

That should tell you something right there...the Kingdom WAS coming in those days!

27I tell you the truth, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the kingdom of God." 28About eight days after Jesus said this, he took Peter, John and James with him and went up onto a mountain to pray.  29As he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became as bright as a flash of lightning.  30Two men, Moses and Elijah, 31appeared in glorious splendor, talking with Jesus.  They spoke about his departure, which he wsas about to bring fulfillment at Jerusalem.  Luke 9:27-31

Read 28, "About eight days after Jesus said this, he took Peter, John and James with him..."  This shows that the transfiguration that Peter, John and James saw was what Jesus meant by "some who are standing hear will not taste death before they see the kingdom of God."

And the fact that it was on earth back in those days prove the fact that the "coming" isn't still out in the future!

From the bible, we know that the kingdom of heaven is within us, and you can't deny that it is also a place in heaven.

New heaven and new earth simply meant the way things were done.  The earth was not literally destroyed when the Flood happened, but the way things were done were.

Take a look at my post on Ecclesiastes.

I'm convinced that the sea referred to in this passage has to do with a temple implement.  I believe that the bowl that held the water where they washed their hands was called the sea, and that does not exist anymore.

You have to remember that we do not live as they did back then.  He was talking to a specific people at a specific time, and many things have changed since then.

You'd have to prove to me that it DOESN'T.

The whole point is that the Bible was written to a certain people at a certain time who had  a different way of living and talking than we do.  What meant one thing back then could (and often does) mean something completely different today.

You would have to prove it from scripture that the sea referred to has to do with a temple implement.  I don't think you can ever prove that.

Read the post on Ecclesiastes.

Either the Bible is contradicting itself, or Jesus didn't know what He was talking about, and neither did the Apostles.

You can't have it both ways!

I'm telling you, much has been missed with this teaching!

Revelation wasn't even addressed to us, but yet the entire church teaches that it's meant for us.  You can't convince me that it is.

Read Matthew 24:1-2

1Jesus left the temple and was walking away when his disciples came up to him to call his attention to its buildings. 2"Do you see all these things?" he asked. "I tell you the truth, not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down."

That was copied from the Bible online that's in a yellow post in this room.  What is described here happened at A.D 70 when the Romans destroyed the Temple.  THAT is when Jesus came back.

I haven't received the e-mail yet, but I will post the answers when I do.

And as for me proving things, YOU are the one trying to take writings meant for a specific people at a specific time and trying to make them apply to us today.  I take the Bible as it is written and don't try to make it mean something it doesn't.

This post got a little heated, but I left it up to show that discussion HAS taken place in here in the past, lol.  It just bothers me when people can't see what's in front of them no matter what you show them.
