I'm winging it here, and I don't know the formal definition of this word. Someone can post the formal one if they want, but I'm posting what I believe.
Preterists believe that Jesus came back at A.D. 70 when the Temple at Jerusalem was destroyed by the Roman effectively doing away with God's physical dwelling place. Now, He dwells in our hearts.
Many will argue that if this were true, this and that would've happened, especially what was foretold in Revelation. The problem with that argument is that 90% of Revelation is signified or in symbols. Therefore, it cannot be taken literally.
This is why I have posted various scriptures showing the time statements and others refuting common church teaching.
Why is there evil in the world? It's not evil, it's an absence of God. Can't take credit for that saying, but it fits just the same. God is still a Gentleman, and He will not force Himself on us. We still have to invite Him to live within us for Him to do so.
I started this group not to alienate others but to educate and connect with others of like beliefs. Fulfilled prophecy can be an interesting subject, and I'd like to see us concentrate on things other than just the Second Coming.

Okay, It's just so hard to wrap my mind around this. Although if I could it would take away a lot of fears and questions about the End Times...and boy would that be nice! But when you've been taught your whole life that things are one way and can ONLY be that way...well...it's just hard. But that is why I'm here. I am trying so hard to keep an open mind.
Now I'm wondering to those of you who believe this....Were you raised to believe this or did you come upon it in your adult life?

Yes, I was raised at first that this was still out in the future, but if you haven't already, check out the other posts. Why would God put, inspire, things in the Bible meant for the future and use the word "soon?" A lot of things didn't make sense to me, but it does now.
