You’ve looked at the Scorecard and you’re thinking, “Wow, that’s interesting/cool/super, but what do I do with all this information?” Here are some do’s and don’ts to get you on the path to group greatness!
Do's
Do: Be a visible presence in your group. Group owners who post and reply thoughtfully in their group and go out of their way to get to know their members build very strong and active groups.
Do: Brainstorm with your admin team ways to improve activity levels. If the post numbers are down or the number of active members could be stronger, talk with your admins about programming and other strategies you can employ to boost participation.
Do: Keep a journal of things you are trying in your group. By tracking your efforts and comparing against information in the Group Activity Scorecard, you can see what’s working and what’s not.
Do: Check this Scorecard often. The Scorecard is a quick and simple way to take your group’s temperature. Stay on top of how things are going in your group by reviewing the Scorecard at least once at week.
Don'ts
Don’t: Take it personally. Sometimes things are slow in a group because let’s face it, moms are busy women and can't sign on as often as they'd like!
Don’t: Become a party pooper. If you start breathing down your group members’ necks requiring them to participate or else, the group will start to feel less like fun and more like homework. It’s better to create a reason that makes your group members excited to participate every day.
Don’t: Spam. Do you know anyone who actually likes junk mail? Didn’t think so. So don’t spam your group with irrelevant posts or encourage that behavior. It will clog up your forums and make them less interesting to new and existing group members. Don't spam your group members with private messages either. Use your Group Bulletin to entice members to pay your group a visit, but don't go overboard with the messages. If they aren't coming back, they likely have a good reason and spamming them will just turn them off even more.
Don’t: Panic. Knowledge is power. You are now armed with important information to take your group to the next level. And you have a whole group of supporters in the Groups Resource Center (GRC) backing you up. Head over to the GRC when you need some inspiration or want to share your thoughts and successes with other group owners.

Yeah it's using a knack of diplomacy in running a group. I poll my members periodically to see what their interest are. I even questioned recently if they read bulletins. Only one out of many found them to be a waste of time. Most people do read the bulletins. However you can send too many. An occasional one with enticing interest is a good one. But I do disagree with one thing you posted here. Sometimes a bulletin is a good means of letting members know you're doing a cleanup of absent members. (say some who haven't been in in over 30 days) Renew your membership. If you don't want to lose people. I find members do come in and at least view group. It saves on loss of membership.
I do suggest that owners get to know their members interest. Ask for their input. Allow members to have a 'job' to do. It works well. Not just your admins. Pull your inspiration from anywhere you can.
the last part of your statement is what i stand by too.. come in group and post post post, say whats on your mind we all want to hear from eachother.. have great post and even greater feed bak..
