I am going on a Carnival Cruise to Cabo San Lucas during 4th of July.  My mom wanted to do something fun for her birthday so she decided she wanted to take her family on a cruise.  I can't wait as I've never been on a cruise and will be my kids first time on a boat.

You will have so much fun!  We went on a Carnival cruise to Acapulco, Zihuatanejo & Manzanillo last year & had a blast!  I will warn you to bring some Dramamine along in case you get seasick, like my DD & I did!  How old are your kids?  You might want to check out www.CruiseMates.com or www.CruiseCritic.com so you can chat with other cruisers.  You can even join a group for your specific sailing & meet up with chat board friends on board the ship if you like.

Sounds like a great adventure. I can never talk my husband into trying a cruise. He's afraid we'd be bored between stops. Would like to know what you found interesting being on the boat. Also - can you rollerblade on the ship?  Hope you have a great trip!

For the 4th of July we are going to rent a cabin on Lake Vermillion "up north" in Minnesota.  It is on a beach and comes with  a fishing boat.  Lots of family will be staying within a short boat ride of us. We'll gather for BBQ or fish fry each night.  The annual water balloon fight from the boats is a highlight. It's a great way to enjoy nature and family, while having ready access to a shower!!
