What did you all think when you heard they were getting a divorce? This was announced right after their 40th wedding anniversary. They it was a mutual agreement--that they had grown apart. I was surprised at first--then I got to thinking about it and I don't remember seeing them together in quite some time. (So, I guess that BIG smooch at the convention didn't last forever--or whatever).

Since reading about Al & Tipper's separation, I've read all kinds of speculations on them--he has a mistress, she had an affair, he's gay, etc. Have you all read any of this? I guess no one thinks anyone can just grow apart after so many years.

I thought it was too bad, but actually sad to say that nobody splitting up surprises me any more. Maybe she just got tired of him putting his career choices ahead of their life for too many years.

I was very shocked when I heard this, I really thought they were the perfect couple... who knows what goes on behind closed doors..I guess it happens to the best of them...life goes on
