MY DAUGHTER  WHO IS NOW 13 YEARS OF AGE REALIZES THAT I AM OLDER THAN MOST OF HER FRIENDS MOMS. I ALWAYS TELL HER THAT  I WAITED TO HAVE CHILDREN.

lak394    I know how that feels my daughter told me when she was in school the kids on the bus would say is that your grandma.  and she would have to tell them no that is my mom.  They would say to her oh she is old.  Boy thanks alot.

kids say the darndest things. people always ask me if I am her grandmother. I am glad I waited late in life to have my daughter and thankful to God that she was healthy. I simply cannot imagine having Amelia at any earlier age.

In my case, when people ask if my youngest one is my grandchild it doesn't bother me a bit because I have grandchildren older than him. Between the two of us my husband and I have three adult children and a total of 4 grandchildren (12, 8, 7 &6) . Our children are 12, 10, 4 & 4. We just started over again so we actually have two sets of children.

Well I know that I am older than moms my kids age, but thats ok. My older 2 daughters are 26 and 30. And at age 53 I am a mom of 3 more children that I adopted ages 6,8 and 10. So far none of their friends commented on my age  and if they do, I will just explain how ignorant some kids can be.

funny, i was always the youngest mom realized when we had parent/teachers meetings... but now i understand that it is not always what we want but when the right time is for us. mine was early and for others it is later...so what, it is what we make of it and how we can be the best moms for our children at the tíme...

Good question to run across today... as I am feeling OLDER than usual.   I am 49.  My son is 19 and my oldest daughter will be 17 on 9/9.  I was already an "older mom" when I had David at the age of 30.  I then had my little surprise 3 months shy of my 42nd birthday.   Meghan has just started first grade and I realized today that, realistically, I could be her grandma.    I wouldnt trade this for anything though.  She has been such a blessing.  Watching her older siblings interact with her has been so fun.    I have so much more patience now than I did with the first two.   Age truly is just a number...  : )

I guess I'm flattered when people ask if I'm Ela's grandmother, since I'm actually her great grandmother. Different perspective. And I can't imagine what it will be like when she's older, but right now I've never enjoyed a child more.

I simply answer with, "God waited until I was mature enough to be the best mother I could be to two very special gifts he wanted me to have!"
