first deployment

Ok, so when you marry a military man you know deployment is always a possibility..even for reserveist. My hubby was deployed to Iraq about 6 years ago (but we werent together then) and he was to be deployed last and ended up being promoted a rank and was transferred to a new unit, so i felt so blessed...but three weeks at that unit what happens, they recieve deployment orders for this year, I was thinking man they must be tracking my hubby down for a deployment..So now we are basically starting from scratch because last year he was gone all summer basically for trainings, processings, schools courses prepareing for their deployment so he was gone and seriously like a week before they left for their units deployment he got transferred, so i felt like it was all last year now here it starts again in June for all new training and all the preparation again...sound really round two. I have been so depressed the past couple of days becuase one my best friends from the previous unit just got deployed last month and I cried with her because I know it is hard and she looks so sad, so I know what I have to look forward too..or dred, which ever way you want to put it..So i am preparing our end of finances and daily stuff that I will be taking over, plus we have a one yr old son, and when I call places trying things set up for me to handle people are so rude and are like why are you doing this now cant you wait til he is ready to go????????? Really I want to spend my last week doing that crap. I dont think so. Plus people dont realize that just because they have MOB date does not mean they are home until then they have pre-mob committements like trainings processing, my husband is an officer so he has even more time away from us preparing his batallion to go.. Sorry I really needed to vent!

i know the feeling. my husband is getting ready for his second deployment.  when he deployed the first time we were newlyweds, and i was pregnant. its not easy going through it. 

my expierence, the closer it gets to d-day, my husband distanced himself from me. its just a way for them to cope while they are gone so they can focous.

 

btw,  what is mob?

sorry, mobilization date, i always just say mob date...there is just so much to take care of before he is gone and it is stressful, plus all of the emotional stuff that goes with it..but I am thankful for the months/weeks we still have
