hey guys my husband is in the army he is depolyed right now so talk to me if u need someone ok thank you Cortney
Yeah my hubby left 6 days after our son was born, he was lucky enough to be there for the birth but my son still didn't know him until he was 15 months old. Although we are much luckier in this war that women have been in the past. The ability to use webcams and phones worked wonders for my son. Whenever he was awake and daddy would call or get online I made sure to tell him 50 million times who he was talking to and looking at. Come time for homecoming, my hubby got in at 3 am and for any toddler thats usually a very bad situation, but because of my hard work making SURE he knew who daddy was...Colin went right to him. It was amazing and brought tears to my eyes. Oh! another thing I did was I laminated a photo of my hubby and gave it to DS. I know it sounds wierd but it worked. If he was fussy I would hand him his daddy pic and he calmed right down, I laminated it for the times DS was bound to put it in his mouth, but mostly he just stared at it and smiled. Just remember there are ways to make sure he knows who daddy is. If you need anything don't hesitate to ask. Also check the deployment forum, I am going to post a link for the "life size daddy" pictures
Quoting MrsGuyette2009:i wish he was not deopyled he has never seen his son and it kills me that my son don't' know his dad
i too am an Army Wife as my screen name says
my husband is currently deployed
he only saw our daughter when she was litterialy a few weeks old
and if it wern't for web-cam he wouldn't be able to see her as she grows
thankfully he comes home in a couple months (i am counting down the days)
just in time for our daughters first birthday.

Isn't is amazing the technology we have today? When my Grandfather was over seas, he was gone for 2 years and was only able to call my grandmother 4 times. There only thing was letters. I think we are extremely lucky these days to have the option to have webcams and frequent phone calls.

Hi my name is Amber and my husband is also deployed. I can only imagine what it must be like with a new baby. The first deployment my middle child was only six months. This time around our youngest was eighteen months. We also have a ten year old. I have to say it is harder on the older ones. The younger ones do not know what they are missing. When he was home on leave our now two year old took to him really quickly. That is what is best about the little ones. Is this your first child? I joined this group to find others to talk to that can relate. I hope that is what u find. Thanks Amber
Of course my husband is in the ARMY and deployed too. Its nice to be able to have other people to talk to that can relate to what you go through. Have you been a military wife long? We will keep him in our prayers with all of our other guys in the service... Hope he's on his way home soon! God Bless.
