i was wantin to know if  any of your hubby's have been distant before thier deployment. this will me mine and hi first. i went home like a month prior back to missouri(2100 miles away) it just seems like he is/was pulling farther and farther away from me. i just dont understand it!! it may just be me, but all i know is that i was/am tryin to 'be there" for him, show him how much i care and how much i really do miss him. i was tryin to talk to him as much as possablebefore he had to leave. it just seems like the closer the day came the  less i talked to him, and it hurts. idk maybe it is just his way of dealing with things.....

Coming from a retired military spouse I would say this is normal behavior.  They tend to distance themselves from the family a week or so before deployment.  It helps them to concentrate on the mission ahead and distance themselves from their family so it is easier on them while they are away.  When they come home........its a whole different ball game.  My husband was in the army for 25 years and it was the same thing every time....after a couple of years; I figured it out.  Other military spouses go through the same thing so you are not alone.  Just be patient with him and when he gets back.....it will be better.  Good Luck!
