Story of Our World and Help with a project

Hi, ladies! It has been a while. I am starting a new project and I'd like to ask you to participate. I keep an activities page and I am going to start a series once or twice per week that features favorite activities, projects, crafts or lessons from readers. This will be a great way to trade ideas with other moms who are looking for inspiration.

If you would like to participate, send an email to starrwd@gmail.com with the subject line "Activity Submission." Answer the following questions and include pictures (as many as you like) of your activity. If you have several activities to submit, do so in separate emails.

1. What is your latest favorite activity?
2. Tell us how we can do this activity at home.
3. (OPTIONAL, but at least give an alias if you don't want us to use your real name.) Tell us a little bit about yourself and your family. (If you have a blog or a home-based business to promote, this is the place to do so.)

ALSO....

Who else of you is using Story of Our World? How fast do you go? I am using it with my 5 year old and she just can't get enough. She wants me to read her a chapter every day. Since she is so into it and likes that pace, I think I'm going to read through it once and then go back and use the free SOTW lapbooking templates from runofthemillfamily.com to review the chapters. What is your schedule for teaching history?

Hey, great idea for sharing activities - thanks for sharing!

We do history in thirds, repeating each third of history every three years. This correlates well with Story of the World's volumes. They also have audiobooks which are great for the car, etc. I think whatever pace you go is fine. You can always go back and read it again like any other story book!

Thanks! I wasn't sure if we were going too quicky. But she is very motivated right now, so I guess it is ok. You are right. We can always go back and reread. Plus, right now she is probably just developing a schema to attach details to as she learns more, which is important. Thanks, that makes sense. I'm just going to go with it. Have you used the lapbook? I'm thinking I'll review with it once we finish book one.

Exactly!!!  Nope, haven't used the lapbook.  What a great idea, though, I love it.  Let us know how it goes!  :)

I will. If anyone is interested, I downloaded the free lapbook here:

There are also cool photos of activities and a blog detailing this family's journey through the books.
