1 loaf unsliced round bread (about 9-inches in diameter)
Butter, butter spread or margarine, optional
3/4 cup Italian, ranch, blue cheese or Thousand Island dressing
Lettuce leaves (don't skimp)
1/3 pound sliced Swiss cheese
3/4 pound sliced cooked Virginia baked ham
1/2 pound sliced cooked smoked turnkey
2 large tomatoes, sliced
1 green bell pepper, seeded and cut into thin rings, optional
Cut bread in half horizontally. Hollow out center of each half, leaving 1/4-inch
shell.
Spread very thin layer of butter spread onto inside of each half. Spread
dressing into each shell.
Line bottom shell with lettuce. Into bottom shell, layer cheese, ham, remaining
dressing, turkey and then tomato slices. Top with lettuce and replace top shell.
To serve, place sandwich on cutting board and cut into wedges.
