you know, one you go to for almost everything that is maybe dog eared and worn from use. i have two of those. one is called the pioneer cookbook, which was put out y south central bell many many years ago. it was my mothers and all the stuff she made over the years was in it. she managed to find it being printed again and bought herself a new copy and gave the old one to me. and the other one is one of our family cookbooks that was published. the other is a large three ring binder that i have written down all my favorites in and a lot of the ones ihave found in magazines, etc. in fact two years ago for christmas i printed and put in a three ring binder for all of my friends and family a cookie cookbook. i am trying to access my file for it. it is a word document, ut it says my file is corrupt and i just dont have time to type them all in, it is a rather large collection, but as i get to it, i will add it. i think i may have given my mother a disk copy of it too so i will check with her. so what is your all time favorite cookbook?
lol, yes, its like mine in the giant 3ring binder, my favorite recipes and ones i have to try from other sources... i understood it perfectly! lol

My favorte cookbook is one I made with lots of recipes from all kinds of other cookbooks!Does that make any sensa lol?
My "go to cookbook" is my Betty Crocker one. If I need a quick recipe for basic things like a white sauce or something I use it. But my ultimate favorite cook books are from the Grange. I like looking at recipes that others have tried. My grandmother used to have a couple of these and I have a couple. I haven't bought a new one for a while, though. Actually, right now I have one of them laying beside my bed that I look at before I go to sleep!! Is that wierd or what??!!

I have two. The Household Searchlight Cookbook (old faithful) and my Mom's Betty Crocker Cookbook . I have the origional Searchlight that was my Great Grandma's and a reprint that I use for cooking. During the depression a door to door salesmane came to Grandma's door trying to sell the cookbook. He offered to trade a copy of the cookbook for a meal, telling her that he had not had a hot meal for three days.
Grandma glued recipe clippings on every page that did not contain a recipe. The index has over 50 recipes glued to the pages. We can tell what recipes were her favorites from the stains on the pages.

how cool that you have such a great treasure from your grandmother! and yep, stains on the pages is a dead giveaway of the use of certain ones! i am familiar with the betty crocker one and have the old one and the new one but am not familiar with the searchlight one. i will have to do some research on it
