okay ladies here goes:
I was shopping yesterday when I decided to go by this new Catholic novelty gift shop
to buy some few little items. I have a baby shower tomorrow and I have at least 4 women's birthdays upcoming Feb. So I loved some of the items I got for Christmas and realize they would be marked down prayerfully. So I went in. The 2 workers. (one owner of the store) were there and she told me to continue to shop and if I needed help just yell they were going in the back room for a minute. So I did. Well I went back to the end of the store where they were and pull some more items I wanted to purchase out went to the counter to get ready to pay. I ask her if she would be so kind to give me a few small gift bags because some of the items I was buying were gifts. She went through this long speech to me saying that she could only give me a big plastic bag for my stuff because I bought all cearance items and that it cost her 20cents per bag. She has to pay for her gift bags and if I had bought say a non clearance item maybe she would put it in one of the little white bags. Now get this. The bags were plain as jane. Nothing fancy a small little bag with a rope handle. The thing of it is, she had nerve to go into detail about her over head the heat all that she had to pay and she could not see giving me a bag for a 50cent clearance trinket that cost her 20 cents. I am like " are you serious". Now I had mind you at least $10.00 to $12.00 worth of stuff so in no way was I expecting a 20cents bag for each 50 cents or $1.00 priced item. The sad thing about it is that she would have had a customer for life but she blew it by going on about her heat and over head. The irony of this is that I would have bought the bag off her but the way she came off was totally wrong. I''ve went to bigger stores and even some small stores and when I make a purchase they would weight in what I bought as opposed to what measely 20cents or less that is paid for a bag. So I didn't get that. How could she not see giving me the 2 bags that she admitted cost her like 40cents tops and a sale of more then $10.00 how is that costing her more then it's worth.
Please help with this one seriously. That was one of the worst examples of customer service I've ever saw., the bad thing about it it's a Christian store.
Help
Thanks

Here is a way to make really cute gift bags for those special presents ... an opportunity to make each bag fit the STYLE unique to the individual you are buying for:

Thanks Good morning
I really was hurt by this. I've never had anyone act so rediculous behind a 20 cent bag.
Well she did just loose my business. I'm sorry in this recession these store owners
should be glad first off that they even have repeat customers, then to make matters worse
to add insult to injury. I would have gladly just bought the darn bag but to tell me about all her
woes and her overhead; hey that's what being in business for yourself cost. As it's said,
"you have to spend money to make money". I realize small stores are probably feeling the crunch
also but she should not have told me those things.
Thanks you live and you learn
Blessings

Such a shame---I had a hair stylist who lost me as a customer because she used to talk about how she had to lower her prices because of the economy and she always complained about paying her bills and things. It made me feel funny because I ALWAYS tipped her at least 20% and I felt like she was asking for more. I don't know why a store owner would have done that to you. A bag is a bag is a bag.....and you probably would have returned to purchase more things...
