Do you like them? is their any damage to your nail when you take the polish off? How much does a shellac manicure run in your area?

I just heard about them and was going to get one. Then my gf was saying how you had to put your fingers in really hot water and use some other stuff to get it off. It sounded harsh to me and I didn't want to do that to my hands. She also said the Shellac stays on a long time which is why I was interested. But I still like being able to just change my polish when I want and not having to go back and do all this stuff to get it off.

But my girlfriends rave about it...

I've done shellac a few times. Its great for durabilty...the stuff does NOT chip. After close to two weeks, I kind of just peeled off the polish LOL. Remember that peel off polish that they had in the ....80s/90s? It came off kind of like that....didn't notice any damage to my nail either.

Had it done once and never again. Ruined my nails even with it taken off properly. It costs around $28 here in MN.

But I read somewhere online that a lot of smaller independently owned salons don't use the actual Shellac brand. You know if they do use Shellac when they actually give you a special oil to use at home to prevent damage. Wished I had read that prior to getting one.
