Hairy Legs Make Major Comeback Thanks to Daring New 'Club'

by Adriana Velez

razor burnSick of shaving your legs? Well you're in luck, because hairy legs on women is in style this summer. Not since the summer of 1915 have we seen such a warm, welcome embrace of hirsute gams. All of a sudden, women everywhere are throwing down their razors and waxing kits and saying NO MORE. No longer will we be slaves to hair removal and razor burn. It's time to liberate leg hair!

Two Tumblrs, Hairy Legs Club and Very Hairy Legs, have inspired thousands of women to stop shaving and waxing their legs -- or at least change the way they feel about staying hairy. And there's also a Facebook group, WANG (Women Against Non-essential Grooming). The thing is, some women can't shave for health reasons, others can't keep up with the growth, and still more feel like we just shouldn't feel pressured to shave if/when we don't want to. There are a million different reasons for ladies to go fuzzy, so we decided to let a few speak for themselves through some of our favorite quotes and photos from the Tumblrs.

Do you think it's becoming more acceptable for women to not shave their legs? How do you feel about body hair grooming?

Well, that would make my daughter happy, she hates shaving her legs.  I don't care for it much either, but still do it because I like the way my legs look/feel when they are hair free.

Sometimes I shave, sometimes I wax, sometimes I don't. What anyone might think is not my business. When I don't shave or wax it isn't to make a statement, but out of sheer laziness. Smooth legs or hairy legs don't contribute to or shake my confidence.

I do think that some people have gone overboard with body hair grooming, though. I find the whole Brazilian waxing thing just too creepy and pedofilistic on the part of the men. Bleaching of the groin area also makes me raise my eyebrows. I wonder if people who undergo all these over-the-top treatments stop to think that they are taking cues from the porn industry.

I epilate, usually once a week. I have a really bad patch of eczema on my leg and shaving is a big no no. I can't stand having hairy legs so going without is just something I can not do. But I don't have a problem with what other people choose to do for themselves.

There are days I don't feel like shaving, usually in the winter, but I like the smooth feeling too much to do away with it altogether.

I shave almost everytime I shower. I don't like feeling the hair there. Especially when the weather is warmer because I wear capris and dresses.

I couldn't... I hate body hair. (and it's not at all sex related)

There is no way I can not shave my legs or pits.  I have dark coarse hair and if I wait to long it tends to make my legs itch plus I love how smooth my legs are after I shave.
