2017 Fall Fashion Trends

As the temperatures begin to cool off, it's time to dust off those beloved booties and swap out sundresses for sweaters. This year's biggest trends for fall are all easy to wear and surprisingly comfortable.

Tops

Without a doubt, the biggest trend to hit this fall season will be bell sleeve tops. These statement sleeves add a feminine touch and a hint of drama to otherwise basic tops. Best paired with a simple bottom such as skinny jeans or a pencil skirt, these sleeves can elevate any basic look. For additional drama, try wearing them underneath another top and letting the bell sleeve peek out, such as under a button up or sweater. A word of caution though, be careful not to let your bell sleeve get in your food while eating! Another popular top trend that will still be going strong is the cold shoulder and off shoulder tops. These tops were in full force this summer and show no signs of slowing down, so a simple way to transition your summer tops into fall is to simply layer on a knit or cardigan and swap the shorts for jeans.

Hair

Check out any Pinterest result for "fall 2017" and you'll begin to notice a common theme when it comes to hair styles-long layers of loose waves. Don't have long hair? No need to worry. You can have it in minutes by adding clip-in hair extensions. If you're eager to try the popular Ombre trend of hair that gets lighter towards the ends, you can achieve this by adding extensions that are a few shades lighter than your natural hair color.

Shoes

The 90's called and they want their mules back. This year's hottest shoe is a flashback to simpler times, when people used landline phones and social media didn't even exist. It's true that every fashion trend cycles back around if given enough time. High heeled mules are surprisingly versatile and pair great with skinny jeans or dresses. The shoes have an added bonus of being comfortable to walk around in thanks to the chunky heels. Speaking of chunky heels, last fall was all about the peep toe booties and these popular boots are still on trend this season. Be sure to get your wear out of them before winter hits as you certainly won't want to lose your toes to frostbite in the name of fashion...though it does seem like a small price to pay in favor of seriously adorable shoes.

Staple Outfits

A few seasons ago, the standard go-to fall outfit was leggings, riding boots, a flannel or plaid button up, and a blanket scarf. This year it's all about the layers, cardigan layers that is. This season's most popular silhouette for the fashion forward is the long cardigan, short or tucked in top, skinny jeans (bonus points for a subtle rip), and peep toe booties combination. This versatile combination can be mixed up in quite a few ways by using the same few types of pieces. Look for neutral colored long cardigans such a brown, camel, cream, or grey, and you'll be able to wear them with any fall top.
