Raising Children with Down Syndrome
We were at Geisinger all day doing his cardio appointment and his pacer check up, we got good news from both! Originally after his OHS last September we knew he still had one small VSD and two of his valves are leaking still but the doc said that he doesn't see to much of the leaks anymore and he doesn't think that Gage will have to have any more surgeries until he is at least a teenager, unless something unforseen would happen! And when they do it then they will probably go up through his groin with a "device", (thats what he called it)! Also at his pacer check they told us that the pacer hasn't had to work as hard as it was when he first had it implanted! I AM SO FREAKIN HAPPY THAT HE IS BETTER! He weights 32lbs and is 33 inches in length! Finally some weight gain and adding heighth! I just had to share how happy this makes me!

by jjamom on Sep. 3, 2008 at 4:46 PMThat is such fantastic news!! I love to hear about the good appts! Alex has a device that they implanted by going through his groin area. They did it while they were in there doing a cardiac cath. It's called an amplatzer occlusion device, and was used to close his 19mm ASD! He had the surgery on Tues, came home on Wed and went to our first Buddy Walk on Sunday, just like nothing ever happened. It was awesome! Wow, he's a big boy. He weighs a full ten pounds more than Alex. |
