My neighbor has abandoned his children.  When I say abandoned I mean moved out of the house and left them behind.  His boys are 17 and 18.  I am devestated for these kids.  I believe they are going to try to rent there house out from their parents, but neither parent wants to keep the house in their name.  If they cant stay I dont know where they will go.  They are being completely selfish and hateful and dragging their kids into this mess.  I wanted to call child protective services because the 17 year old doesnt drive or have a license, but I dont want to mess up their plan to try and stay in the house together.  The younger one is very mature about the whole thing.  The father didnt even leave food, supplies, or money for his kids.  Ive been feeding him for the past three months. Is there any way to make the parents pay for their responsibility? What would you do in this situation, which is a little bit different because the kids are older.  I wont let anything happen to them, but I really want someone to be held accountable.  All suggestions and or comments will be appreciated.

WOW.  I don't quite know what to say.   I think in some states its legal to "kick out" a child at 17 years of age.  While the parents should be held accountable, I don't think they will be.

Also, CPS or the authorities may put the 17 year old in a foster home for a year and then he not only loses his parents but also his brother.

I think instead of focusing on bringing justice I would focus on doing what I can to help them get on their feet.  Maybe you could teach the 17 year old to drive and help him study for the test, or help them fill out job applications, and such.

Those poor boys.  One day those parents will have to answer to the Lord for their actions.
