Dd(19 months) has not nursed in over a week.
I usually take a lot of flack from people for nursing over a year. All my friends who had their babies a month or more earlier than I had mine kept asking me if we were still nursing long after they had stopped. I got a lot of the comments.
'I dont know why you would want to nurse that long? Seems weird to do it past 12 months. Are you going to ever wean?'
I don't mind nursing..it doesn't take up that much of our day at this age.
I was kind of ready for her to cut back a few months ago..and so I started only letting her nurse morning and night. Which worked really well for us. She has slowly cut it back from there on her own.
Like I said..it's been a week and while I am enjoying having my body back...I am also a little sad.
She was probably our last..and so if she is done then it means I am done forever. :(
How sad. I enjpyed my nursing years..and will always think of them very fondly.
Anyone else finished for good?

My Logan 29 months is still going strong. He loves his booshies ! It is hard on me right now we are in the middle of a move. I get people asking and giving me crazy looks. But people need to see it otherwise it will never be normal.

I commend you mama !!! 19 months is awesome !

I know exactly what you mean! I nursed my first 2 until 18 and 19 mo. Your right, by that age it was mainly for comfort. I believed my son was the last and I nursed him 19 but then my milk supply just stopped. Turned out I was pregnant with my Anna. She is almost 9 mo old now. I was so sad when my son was almost weaned until I learned Anna was in me.
Hang in there momma, your not alone :)

There is nothing like having a baby and having that special bond from nursing.

Yes,Momma...it sort of sneaks up on you or at least it did with me. Mine would go down to when they first got up,were ready for bed or to make it all better when they didn't feel good or got a boo-boo. Then they were spacing those times out and before I knew it,it had been a few days since they had nursed and they were done. I had one who fell just a couple months after they stopped and got hurt pretty good. I picked them up and automatically went to nurse them...they looked at me like momma what are you doing? My youngest is now nine,so it's been awhile since I've been done...the memories though are priceless and sweet.breastfeeding

I'm so sorry :(

I do extended breastfeeding too. My 2 yr old isn't acting like she wants to stop any time soon. I've been bf'ing for 5 1/2 yrs straight everyday plus time before that before my oldest weaned. I can't imagine never nursing again but I can imagine not being pinched ever again...lol

Well I only have 3 children and then youngest is 5. We have never said we are done but it not something that comes up to often. Anyway my youngest (girl) wouldn't stop. In fact she nursed only at night before bed long after 1. When she was 2.7 I took it away. She followed me around with a blanket for months every night crying. Of course about year ago she told me se was thristy, grabbed my chest and asked for a drink, lol. Pretty funny. My boys gave it up on their own. It's always sad when they are done. It's such a bonding time. HUGS!
