Hey yall!  I'm new to the group and just wanted to introduce myself.  I haven't learned all the lingo for this site yet so cut me some slack!

I'm that 30-year-old professional that never wanted kids...until now lol.  My boyfriend and I live together and he has 3 kids from his first marriage, ages 14(M), 12(F), and 5(M).  We have custody of the 14 yr old and that seems to be working fine...about to start trying to get the 12 yr old.  I love these children like they are my own and their BM is CRAZY!!!  The 5 yr old and I don't get along too well because he doesn't listen to me and is spoiled rotten and use to getting everything he wants...well that doesn't work in my house!  I have a very loving relationship with the 2 older kids but I'm at my wit's end with the youngest!  Anyway, thanx for reading and I look forward to all the sarcasm and suggestions thrown my way :)

He only got custody of the oldest because there were behavioral issues.  BM told us to take him or she would try to have him locked up.  We have only had him for a few months but there have been only a couple problems, nothing like at his BM's house.  She is too busy stuck up her boyfriend a** to deal with her children.  Both of the older children realize that they are not the BM's first priority and want to be in our home; the youngest hasn't realized it yet and I hope that he never does.  I could write a book on all the terrible things she has done to those children just in the last yr!  The two oldest don't even want to be around her anymore.  I talk to my SD every day to help her with homework or problems at school or whatever.  She is 100 miles from us but I spend more time with her than her BM does.  The oldest that lives with us is wanting to call me Mama!

And, yes, I do realize that the youngest is only 5!  I also realize that he doesn't have any rules to follow at his BM's house, which is why I try to never let him see how frustrated I am with him.

Ahh, the young ones... Up until 8 or 9 they are a real pain in the a$$. Demanding, whiney and just don't want to follow the rules...brats...

MJ - my claws are about to come out over the comment I've highlighted in red.  I know it's hard for MANY BM's to see how it's possible for a woman to love a child that is not "theirs" - just as it's hard for MANY SM's to see how it's not possible for you to understand this.

I have a SM who loves me, AS HER OWN, and she has children of HER OWN.  I have a SD, that I love AS MY OWN, and unfortunately, will never have a child OF MY OWN.  If I do, it will be adopted, and I guess it's not possible for me to love THAT child AS MY OWN either, huh?

Please be careful.  I understand the sentiment, however - it's the sarcastic attitude that makes me want to vomit.
