Ingredients
---
20 3 inch long cucumbers, sliced
1/2 cup salt
 ice
6 onions, sliced
1 quart vinegar
4 cups sugar
1 tablespoon celery seed
2 tablespoons mustard seed
1 tablespoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon ground tumeric
1/2 teaspoon white pepper

Instructions

Slice the cucumbers. Add salt and stir gently. Cover with ice for
about 3 hours, replacing ice as needed. Drain the cucumbers and rinse
off the salt. Add the onions. Run 8 1 pint canning jars through the
dishwasher. Boil the lids and tongs. Heat water to boiling in a water
bath kettle. Meanwhile boil together the vinegar, sugar and spices for
10 minutes. Add the cucumbers and onions and bring to the boiling
point. Fill the jars, seal them, and process in the water bath for 15
minutes.
