1 teaspoon vegetable oil
1/4 cup diced onion
1 garlic clove, minced
1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1/8 teaspoon ground cumin
3/4 cup canned crush tomatoes
1/2 cup water
dash hot sauce
12 ounces drained canned chick peas (garbanzo beans)
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper

Instructions
---
In a 1 1/2 quart saucepan heat the oil; add the onion and garlic and
saute until the onion is softened. Add the green pepper and saute for
5 minutes longer; stir in the chili powder and cumin. Add the
tomatoes, water and hot sauce; cover and let simmer for 10 minutes.
Stir in the chick peas, salt and pepper and let simmer uncovered,
until the beans are heated through and the sauce is slightly
thickened, about 10 minutes longer.
