Hey all! I need your advice. My son is on formula, I cannot breastfeed due to personal issues with my breast that in my past that it wasnt allowing me to breast feed. So we are on formula. When he was first born we put him on Enfamil Lipil. Enfamil lipil cause him to have really runny watery stools the doctor told us to wait a couple months to see if his digestive system starts to mature and maybe the stools will thicken. Well it never did so the peds told us to switch to Gentle Ease and it thickened more but still watery. So the peds told us to switch to enfamil prosobee soy. The soy actually made my son really contistipated that he was in so much gassy pain. The doctor told me to either switch back to gentle ease and since he will be eatting solids that it may thicken. or i could try similac sensitive which has no lactose but its close to gentleease. I am rather frustrated because I really don't know what to do. I hate switching and giving my son all these formulas I feel so guilty i cant find the right one for him. My son has never had any gassy or fussiness with any formulas given jsut the watery stools or constipation, well actually the soy made him some what fussy. The docto said he could be lactose or have a milk protien allergy its really hard to tell :/

What would you do would you would you switch back to gentleease and pray for thicker poop since it will be on solids or try similac sensitive ? I tried already talking to my doctor to get tested for a lactose allergy but he said to wait until 6 months or a little older because he is such a young age that he can easily grow out of it. Im just lost.

Has anybody every tried similac sensitive or has gone through the same problems I am going through with formula?

Miah,

AJ was on similac sensitve because all the other formulas we tried upset her stomach and she was constantly spitting up.  Similac sensitive seemed to help though.  Once she was on it she didnt spit up as much.  Its worth a try.  The Dr. also told us that at 6 months the shape of a baby's stomach changes and they digest food easier...  You could also put a little bit or rice cereal in his bottle to thicken the milk.  We tried EVERYTHING with AJ and even though the Similac Sensitive made her spit up less, she still had the acid reflux issue until about 10 months.  I know its frustrating :(  I hope you can find something that works for him soon!

xoxoxo Allie
