Ready to add a million Java Bucks to your stash? Enter your favorite holiday cookie recipe here. Enter as many times as you wish. One entry = a separate post in this thread with a complete recipe, preferably one that you've tried and enjoyed rather than a random internet search recipe.

The drawing will be held on December 15th, 2011. I'll use the Random Number Generator to choose the winner. Good luck to all entrants!

NorthPole.com is awesome for cookies, they have at least 300 recipes.  I think the best holiday cookies are definitely regular sugar cookies in holiday shapes with icing and sprinkles.

  • 1 1/2 cups butter, softened
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  1. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Stir in the flour, baking powder, and salt. Cover, and chill dough for at least one hour (or overnight).
  2. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Roll out dough on floured surface 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. Cut into shapes with any cookie cutter. Place cookies 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
  3. Bake 6 to 8 minutes in preheated oven. Cool completely.

Not homeade, but the kids and I enjoy making them=D  These are the ones we did 2 years ago..

Santa Cookies

Nutter Butter cookies
White chocolate chips or vanilla almond bark
Red decorating sugar
Mini marshmallows, cut in half
Mini chocolate chips
Red hots or red mini M&M's

Melt chips/bark according to pkg directions. Dip beard end and allow to harden(freezer works well). Dip hat end in bark then in red sugar, press on marshmallow while still wet. Attach "eyes" and "nose" with leftover bark.

Easy and fun addition to a Christmas cookie plate or just a quick cookie to do with your kids if you don't have time or energy to do the whole rolled sugar cookie thing.

Source: the web somewhere;-) Taste of Home maybe?

Molasses Cookies

When my kids were small this was one of our favorite cookies to make together...we called them "poo poo" cookies because that's just what the unbaked dough looks like!  But they are yummy!

Ingredients

2/3 cup vegetable oil

1 cup white sugar

1 egg

1/4 cup molasses

2 cups all-purpose flour

2 teaspoons baking soda

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 teaspoon ground ginger

1/2 teaspoon ground cloves

1/3 cup white sugar

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C).

In a large bowl mix oil and 1 cup of sugar. Add egg, beat well. Stir in molasses, 2 cups flour, baking soda and spices. If necessary, add more flour to make a firm dough.

Shape dough into 1 1/4 inch balls. Roll in 1/3 cup sugar. Place 3 inches apart on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake 12 to 14 minutes or until tops crack. Remove from baking sheet and cool on rack.  This makes a crispy cookie...if you want your cookies soft and chewy cut your baking time to about 10 minutes.

My favorite cookie is: Peanut Butter Cup Cookies

You can make them homemade if you want, but all I do is get a package of Pillsbury Peanut Butter Cookies. Bake them according to the package and as they are cooling you pop a mini Reeces peanut butter cup on the top of each one. Everyone loves these and no one will know you cheated! (A lot of people will use hershey's kisses instead of peanut butter cups, I just like those better).
