Anyone a tightlacer or regular corset wearer?

I am thinking about buying a corset to train my waist - like Gina Lollabrigida or Betty Page - and was wondering if anyone was a tightlacer or corset wearer...? It's an expensive commitment, and one I don't want to just jump into.  I'm also a runner and can't really find any info on whether or not it will affect my lung capacity. If it's going to mess with my training then I'm not going to do it. So I want to be sure. I'm not talking about the off the rack kind that you buy at Fredericks of Hollywood. I mean the ones with steel boning that are custom fitted and that you wear for 12 hours or more per day. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

I am a fan of corsets, but would advise against regular tight-lacing; even more so since you are an athlete.  Believe me, it is no coincidence that women died so young in centuries past when cinching one's waist was a daily, fashionable practice.  Wearing a traditional boned corset or cincher (the style required if one is methodically tight-lacing) on a regular basis will reform your shape, but it will also reform your internal make-up.  When worn over a long period of time, boned corsets compress the rib cage (putting undo pressure on the lungs and heart) and push the internal organs into damaging positions.

yup, I agree. womens ribcages would curve in more and there is less room for your lungs. If your a runner, its not a great idea. overtime your breathing will be impaired
