I have only had 2 ultrasounds in my 25 weeks of being pregnant. It seems everyone on here is  getting  alot more than i am. I also  noticed a few mentioned a few problems that the techs would notice i.e.  the cysts on the baby or another woman mentioned  like  placenta privera. How would they be able to tell thesse things about my baby without doing ultrasounds. (this is my first pregnancy so i have no idea). How can i be sure my baby is healthy if they are not looking for these things?

If you had placenta previa, they would have caught that on the first 2 U/S.  Normally, you only get more if there is a problem that needs to be kept track of.  I've only had 2, and I don't think I get another one unless the dr thinks something is wrong.

They'll give you another ultra sound once you get to your third trimester.. In my first pregnancy I had an ultrasound everytime I went to the doctor, but with this one they are saying they can only give me three throughout my entire pregnancy... ridiculous.. but I assume that's the way it is with yours too.. If they don't give you an ultra sound by the end of your thrid trimester then demand one. They really can't turn you down if you're demanding it. This is your pregnancy and your baby... and it is easy to let yourself get pushed around by a doctor...

Alot of insurances only allow one ultrasound in pregnancy unless its medically ness. With my 2 previous pregnancies I only had 1 allowed by insurance for the 20 week anatomy check to see if the baby was forming properly. My other ultrasounds I had to pay for. With this one Ive had 3 ordered by my dr 2 were early on bc there was a possible problem and then the reg anatomy check up. Some drs are different and insist with the insurance that more than one is ness. Some drs dont. It really just depends. As a pp said if something was wrong they more than likely would have seen a sign of it in the previous ultrasounds. U can always ask ur dr if they intend to do another, but if your belly is measuring well and they hear heartbeat on the doppler and your feeling movement and not expeirencing problems then Im sure the baby is fine. Just imagine the older days when they didnt have ultrasounds or even the doppler to hear the heart can you imagine how crazy it would make you waiting to see if the baby was ok? Id have died out of impatience.

I have had a few but I ha to keep changing doctors because I was moving but for the most part I think it has alot to do with your insurance/medicaid. I know LA medicaid only lets you have 3 u/s a pregnancy my insurance gives me 4 unless there is a problem then they cover more (my insurance only covers 80% of everything so i have to pay the rest out of pocket).

Only two is normal..only if there is a problem with your baby is there more,,or if you are high risk..I've had two..and I won't get another one. With my first I only had one. Consider yourself lucky that you don't have to do it again..

i only had 2 ultrasounds and i believe that is all i will be getting. I am reassured every day because he moves around and kicks everyday. If you feel like something is wrong you can always call your doctor or even go to the ER if you think it is real serious.

Ya like pp said go to the er if u feel something is really wrong. 9 times out of 10 they will do an ultrasound there and check on the baby but from my expeirence they dont always let you watch the u/s

thats not neccesarily true. When I was pregnant with my daughter I had 1 ultrasound THE WHOLE pregnancy, that u/s was done at 19 weeks. Everything with the baby was fine and my dr said there was no need for anymore.  He was right because she was born perfect!! no complications with her or her delivery.
