Ok so i thought i would share my story and see if anybody else was in the same position as me. Im 18 years old and my baby girl is due feb 26th 2010. At 17 weeks i had a bleed, and went straight to hospital it was said this could be due to a low placenta i was advised to take it easy until my scan at 20 weeks to check my placenta. My 20 week scan came, my placenta was very low, and this had caused the bleed at 17 weeks. I was not given anymore advice on how to deal with this, just told if it didnt move up at 32 weeks i would be booked for a c section. I had another bleed at 23 Weeks, this one was alot more serious ( sorry for the graphics ) I lost alot of blood, it was like a normal period but the blood was bright red. I rushed to hospital and they kept me in for 3 days. I was then told I needed strict bedrest until january 4th which is the date of my 32 weeks scan. Since i was first admitted to hospital, I have continued to bleed and been admitted a following 6 times, i have been told there is nothing that can be done, just bedrest and to go to the hospital each time this happens. I also had some steroid injections which were extremely painful, to help devellop babies lungs, incase she was born early. They say this is very likely, because as she grows she wil be lying on the placenta causing me to lose more blood, and if ilose too much, she will not be receiving enough blood and she will have to be delivered.
Sorry its such a long story, im just finding the whole experience very frightening, as im very young and on my own. Has anybody else experienced this in a previous pregnancy?
I had a low lying placenta with my first daughter. I was lucky enough to avoid bleeding & bed-rest. Sorry you have to deal with that! I was told no exercise, no sex and no heavy lifting. I had a c-section at 37 1/2 weeks.
I hope everything gets better and that you don't have any more bleeding!!! Good Luck!
I have Complete Placenta Previa which means my placenta is completely covering my cervix. I bled brown blood at 12 weeks and it last for a couple days. But that (Thank God) has been the only time I have bled. Hang in there girl. Rest for sure and don't strain yourself. For you and your little girl! It sounds like your doctors have it under control and I would just do what they say :) I'm in the same boat minus the bleeding so if you ever want to talk I'm here :)
When it was discovered i had this low lying placenta, i was not told to avoid anything so i carried on like normal, im sure this is why it has got so bad! I have been told i am most likely to have c section at 38 weeks, which im very frightened about.
Thank you ladies! x
