My son will eat fried rice any day of the week. A while ago, one of my neighbors would use rice as a staple in all of her meals. She was from Japan, so we loved to eat at her house. I would watch her make fried rice and have since tried a hand at making some myself.
You need:
Rice (I prefer brown rice for the health benefits and my son doesn't notice), chicken broth, soy sauce, salt and pepper, ketchup, and hot sauce
Cook the rice according to the package. (I use a rice cooker. It makes life so much easier and the rice is good almost all day left in there.)
Heat a frying pan with just a dab of oil (I use canola oil if that helps). Toss in amount of rice desired and start adding the different ingredients. Be careful to only add a little at a time or you'll have to start over.
Have fun with this recipe. I use different ingredients all of the time. Try throwing in some frozen peas and bits of chopped up chicken (already cooked).
Let me know if you find an ingredient that makes it taste extremely good.
