I don't know what to do

My son just had a birthday on wednesday and he just turned 3 and his real father showed up and he left me and our son back when our son was 6 months just cause he wanted to go back to his old life with drinking and drugs but now after seeing our son yesterday he wants shared custody and I don't know if I shouls let him since he does drinking and drugs well I know he still drinks cause I saw him drinking with some of the other parents yesterday at my sons birthday party but I don't know if he is still doing drugs. My dad says I should find out what his game is like coming back now after all this time and asking for shared custody and i shouldnt like him have custody at all cause if he is still doing drugs he can sell the kid for drugs.

Unless you know for a fact he is clean from drugs you do not/should not allow him to have shared custody of your son, I agree with your father what is it that all of sudden he wants to see his kid now at age 3 but was more than happy to leave when he was 6 months old??????  JMO but I would say no you keep full/primary what ever your state calls it custody of your child.
