Babysitting my bff's little shih tzu, and need some ideas...

Little Meme is a year old, and is so shy and scared.  She shakes and hides.  I did get her to eat a treat this evening...

Any ideas how to help her adjust to my house?  I have a little shih tzu mix who is older and very calm--and mostly ignores her.

And she is scared of my boys, who are teenagers now...  she's never been around men much--except when some people broke into their apartment, and the maintenance men took all day to put on a new door...

She keeps jumping onto my chest when she gets scared--which is all the time...  and I have a huge scar there from my surgery, which is still tender!

The best thing you can do is ignore the fearful behaviors.  If you can anticipate before she jumps on you stand up and turn away from her.  If you coddle her and try to "coax" her through her fear you will reinforce them.  I would also suggest that your sons ignore her entirely if they trigger her fear, they should act as if she isn't there, not even looking at her.  Good luck!
