Hi all,
I'm a brand new Grandma! My daughter just have her first child over the weekend. He, of course, is beautiful. I live a good 4 hours drive away so getting to see him will be a bit difficult and ultimately expensive with tolls and hotel rooms. I'm lucky my daughter is 'puter savy and we have a good relationship. We keep in contact with photos and such on personal web spaces. I plan on visiting once a month with photo ops and gifts and the opportunity to give the parents a break so they can take in a movie or something. It won't be easy to jog up there so often but it's worth it and won't be forever... only, like, 18 years ;)

Congrats, grandma. I have 10 living grandchildren. Only 3 of them live in the same town I do. Then 1 is about an hour away but the others are 400 miles away. There is one that I only get to write to right now. Her parents are divorced & her stepdad adopted her. There is one that I have no communication with due to her parents not being together when she was born. Then three of them are my oldest son's kids & their parents are mad at me so there is no talking to the kids or anything. There is one grandson that his mom has set up an email address for him so we can email each other.
