Hello Everyone,
My name is Barbara Murphy and I am in the process of studying for the Praxis II English Language, Literature, and Comp test. There are times when I get the pre-test jitters and this is what causes me to procrastinate when it comes to taking a test. Moms I need your help. Could you please provide some test taking tips for this exam? Thanks![]()
Hi! My name is Ruth. I am so with you on those damn tests. I took mine years ago (certified in the state of MI since 2002) and the tests were a pain then! However, I am in GRAD school working on a masters in ed technology because there are no jobs or the jobs are in charters. Plus, I returned to grad school after I felt very disatisfied with teaching in my subject area. Teaching a "special" like computers is less stress and no tests to administer or complicated lesson plans to do.
Here is my advice to you:
1. The test is at your own pace, so take your time unless you are taking more than one. In that case, give yourself an hour and half for each test you take.
2. Go to the bookstore like BORDERS and pick up their PRAXIS test guides. Use these guides to STUDY and GAGE your studying. You will get into a groove. Study one hour at a time or whatever amount you feel comfortable on a set day.
3. The night before the test do a refresher at some point during the day so you can rest at night.
4. The day of the test tell yourself you know it, you are prepared, and you are ready. Bring a water bottle, extra pencils, and a basic watch to keep time for pacing (you wont be able to bring a cell phone or even be able to use it for the time inside.
5. Dont be afraid or worried because keep in mind: Every teacher had to do it too!
GOOD LUCK! I hope this helps!
