She threw me to the wolves!

I have a lot of teacher friends, including my best friend who teaches 8th grade science. Last year, I was job hunting and couldn't find one so I started volunteering at my friend's school. She had me in the classroom passing out papers, making copies, etc., but she also had me tutoring, answering questions and explaining rules/reading worksheets.

So at the end of the school year last year, I had been volunteering in her classroom quite a bit and had gotten to know the kids really well. She had me 'teach' for about 5 minutes and I did pretty well.

Well, it's a new school year and today was the first time I could volunteer. She made me teach a lesson for about 10 minutes all by myself! I was mortified. I'm kinda shy and quiet and have to work on my confidence a lot. I asked afterwards if everyone got it and most of them did, so I guess I didn't do too bad.

Happens to me everytime I sub. For the first 45 minutes I stutter and say ummm alot. :) She's not throwing you to the wolves hon, she is trying to give you some experience and courage. Your gonna be a teacher??
