i have always wanted to be an elementary ed teacher since as long as i could remember. i am now 28yrs old and a mom of a three yr old and 7 months pregnant with my 2nd. I am currently in school part time. i have taken off a few semesters for personal reasons so i know i am behind in the game. my grades have been haunting me from freshman yr and i am now not able to start my education classes due to a low GPA. i was told i can major in my choice; PSY and then MASTER in Edu. So i am taking this route as it will be faster and cheaper for me to become a teacher. Has anyone did this before or doing it.? I would love to get one foot in the door after i give birth to my lil man in Dec. Does anyone have any recommendations of getting started..? Not to sure where i stand. I have my Associates Degree in liberal arts and am now a upper Junior with 85 credits. Will have 8 more credits after this semester. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
Joyce
First off hello and welcome!! I am doing pretty much the same thing you are. Major in HIstory and getting my Masters in Education. I haven't gotten to my 4 yr. college as of yet, I am finishing up my undergrad stuff at community. But when I DO get there, I too was told it was faster.
My suggestion is to go in and talk to a counsler, you should be assigned an advisor, if not start w/ the counsler. I know mine has been a huge help to me, and I talk to him on a regular basis.
Good luck honey!! Don't give up though!!!
