Making my first King/Epiphany cake tomorrow. My MIL makes one every year and I wanted to start making one here. I'm not very good at cooking OR baking. But I am determined. My husband is the cook in this family. We all are happy about that. If you have any easy recipes feel free to send them my way. According to my MIL's recipe I'll be using puff pastry and almond paste. The only "la feve" I could find here locally was a little plastic baby. Do any of you ladies enjoy this particular celebration??
We celebrated yesterday morning, the 7th, because our older daughter worked on 6th and wasn't home before the little one went to bed. My husbands family usually celebrated on the 6th. I wanted to carry on his family tradition. I used entirely too much almond paste. It was really too sweet for my taste.
We still ate it. Well the youngest didn't really eat her piece. She just kept poking it with a fork to see if she was the one who got the baby.
